DNO - Da Nang will continue coordinating with the Embassy and the Consulate General of Japan in the city to organize cultural exchange activities, and promote investment connections, aiming to strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of two countries.
Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong hosted a reception in the city on Thursday for Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Ito Naoki.
Vice Chairman Cuong expressed his pleasure at Ambassador Ito Naoki’s visit to Da Nang and extended his appreciation for the active support from the Embassy of Japan, the Consulate General of Japan in Da Nang, and Japanese organizations in fostering bilateral cooperation in recent years.
He noted that cooperation between Da Nang and Japanese partners has been maintained across various fields. The city regularly hosts the Vietnam - Japan Festival and the Hoi An - Japan Cultural Exchange Program.
Japan is among the top three foreign investors in Da Nang, with 301 projects totaling more than US$1.22 billion in registered capital.
Mr. Cuong took the opportunity to call on the Japanese Embassy and the Consulate General in Da Nang to continue serving as a bridge to bring major Japanese corporations to invest in the city’s priority sectors.
He also proposed expanding people-to-people diplomacy, particularly youth and student exchanges, and cooperation among friendship organizations.
Additionally, he suggested introducing distinctive Japanese cultural activities, such as tea ceremonies, traditional festivals, and performing arts, to Da Nang, as well as supporting volunteers to participate in Japanese language teaching.
For his part, Japanese Ambassador Ito Naoki highly valued Da Nang’s role in Vietnam - Japan relations and expressed his satisfaction with the effective implementation of Japanese projects in the city.
He affirmed that the Embassy and the Consulate General of Japan in Da Nang will continue to act as a bridge to promote cultural and people-to-people exchanges, as well as investment connections between Da Nang and Japanese localities.
He added that both sides will closely coordinate to organize the Vietnam - Japan Festival and the Hoi An - Japan Cultural Exchange Program, further strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of Vietnam and Japan, as well as between Da Nang and Japanese localities.
