DNO - Da Nang’s athletes have won four gold and two silver medals at the 2025 Southeast Asian Taekwondo Championships in Viet Nam.
Specifically, Tran Thi Anh Tuyet excellently overcame strong opponents to win the gold medal in the women's 62kg category. Phan Phu Quy also responded to the coaching staff's expectations with a gold medal in the men's 87kg category.
The remaining two gold medals went to Nguyen Van Thinh in the men's over 87kg category and Nguyen Ngoc Kieu Linh in the women's 33kg category for those aged 12 to 14.
The two silver medals were awarded to Nguyen Thi My Dung in the women's 73kg category and Nguyen Van Lam in the men's over 78kg category, aged 15 to 17.
The abovementioned achievements marked three consecutive successes for Da Nang’s Taekwondo team in 2025 at the Southeast Asian Taekwondo Championships, the National Taekwondo Championships, and the National Taekwondo Age Group Championships with a total of 14 medals.
The 2025 Southeast Asian Taekwondo Championships took place in Nha Trang Ward, Khanh Hoa Province from August 19 to 21.
It brought together more than 370 martial artists from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Brunei, and host country Vietnam.
The host bagged an impressive 125 medals, including 43 golds, 36 silvers, and 46 bronzes. The Vietnam 1 team took 32 golds, while the Vietnam 2 team secured 11 golds, 19 silvers and 23 bronzes.
