The investment decision, adopted on August 6, marks a critical milestone in the development of Lien Chieu Port, one of Vietnam's key seaport projects.

The new funding will finance the remaining public infrastructure required to support the port's long-term operations and attract investment in individual terminal projects.

The project will provide essential public infrastructure while strengthening connectivity across the entire port complex.

It is also expected to create favorable conditions for strategic investors to develop component terminals, enhancing the competitiveness of Da Nang's maritime logistics sector.

A major objective of the project is to relocate existing petroleum terminals currently operating inside Da Nang Bay.

Classified as a Group A public investment project, the scheme includes land acquisition, site clearance and relocation works.

Compensation and land clearance will be carried out to construct a dedicated railway linking Kim Lien Station with Lien Chieu Port, significantly improving multimodal freight connectivity.

The project also covers compensation and relocation for three petroleum piers operated by PV OIL Central, Petec Hoa Hiep and Military Petroleum Zone 2, together with one cargo pier owned by Vicem Hai Van Cement JSC.

On the marine infrastructure side, Da Nang will build an additional 920-meter breakwater, extending the existing 1,170-meter section that has already been completed.

The expanded breakwater will create a sheltered water area, enabling safer navigation and berthing for larger vessels. Also, the investment package also includes the construction of two new liquid cargo berths to replace the petroleum terminals scheduled for relocation.

In addition, approximately 5.73 kilometers of shared access roads and supporting technical infrastructure will be developed to improve internal transport and operational efficiency throughout the port area.

Funding for the project will come from both the central government and Da Nang's municipal budget, with implementation scheduled for the 2026-2030 period.

The investment completes the final phase of Lien Chieu Port's shared infrastructure. Once operational, the port is expected to boost cargo-handling capacity, improve regional connectivity and establish Lien Chieu as a major international trade gateway, supporting Da Nang's sustainable economic development.
