A master plan of Lien Chieu Port

The investor aims to achieve a throughput of 4 million TEUs per year within three years of the first phase becoming operational. The total project timeline is set at 3,639 days, equivalent to 9 years, 11 months, and 18 days).

Located in Hai Van Ward, the Lien Chieu Port project has a total estimated investment of VND 45.268 trillion and spans approximately 172.6 hectares, forming a comprehensive port infrastructure ecosystem.

The project includes the construction of eight container berths with a total length of 2,750 meters, capable of accommodating ultra-large container vessels of up to 18,000 TEUs.

A special highlight is a 1.5km railway line directly connecting the port to Kim Lien Station, along with a 5,000-ton barge terminal. This integrated infrastructure is expected to optimize multimodal transport and reduce pressure on road networks.

The port is designed to meet green port standards, featuring a high level of automation in cargo handling and compliance with stringent international benchmarks on environmental protection and operational efficiency.

The project will be carried out in three strategic phases over nearly a decade. Phase 1, scheduled for completion by the fourth quarter of 2028, will focus on building at least two initial berths (No. 1 and 2), as well as supporting logistics infrastructure, dredging works, and rail connectivity.

Phase 2, expected to be finished by the first quarter of 2033, will add berths No. 3 and 4. Phase 3, targeted for completion by the first quarter of 2036, will finalize the remaining berths (No. 5 to 8), the barge terminal, and the full synchronization of technical infrastructure.

Once completed, the port is expected to reach a total capacity of about 5.7 million TEUs per year, equivalent to roughly 74 million tons of cargo annually. The port will serve as a key maritime gateway to the East Sea for the East - West Economic Corridor.

The participation of a globally experienced operator like APM Terminals is expected to not only ensure construction progress but also attract substantial cargo flows from international shipping routes to Da Nang.
