Advancing cooperation between Da Nang and Japan's localities

DNO - The "Meet Japan in Da Nang 2026" conference, under the framework of the 11th Vietnam - Japan Festival in Da Nang 2026, titled "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership: Towards a Sustainable Future", took place yesterday.

The conference, hosted by the Da Nang People's Committee, opened up substantive cooperation opportunities between Da Nang and Japanese localities.

Attending the conference were Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam, Ito Naoki; Consul General of Japan in Da Nang, Mori Takero; representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam; Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, Nguyen Thi Anh Thi; leaders of Da Nang city's departments and agencies; and a large number of Vietnamese and Japanese experts and investors.

The conference focused on strengthening cooperation, cultural exchange, sports, and tourism between Da Nang and Japanese localities and promoting the cooperation and development of the Vietnam International Financial Center (VIFC) in Da Nang.

According to Japanese experts and businesspeople, Da Nang, with its vision of becoming a hub for innovation and a world-class destination for tourism and events, is an ideal place to realize the model of cooperation.

In addition, the Vietnam International Financial Center in Da Nang will be an important platform to help Japanese businesses pursue new investment and business opportunities.

Giving a speech at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, affirmed that Japan has always been one of Da Nang's most important strategic partners. The cooperative relationship between Da Nang and Japanese localities is developing into greater depth. This becomes an important connection to promote cooperation in many fields and strengthen people-to-people exchanges between the two sides.

She added that Da Nang is now focusing on implementing three strategic pillars: the Da Nang Free Trade Zone, the Vietnam International Financial Center in Da Nang, and the "Da Nang - A City of Innovation". In these processes, Japan remains one of the city's leading strategic partners.

"Meet Japan in Da Nang 2026" has opened up opportunities for substantive cooperation, further deepening the friendship between Da Nang and its Japanese partners and localities.

Da Nang and its Japanese partners, thanks to the above foundation, will work together to realize common initiatives and promote specific and effective cooperation programs. This contributes to bringing benefits to the communities, businesses, and people of both sides and promoting the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan.

Da Nang committed to standing side by side, creating favorable conditions, and ensuring a stable investment environment for financial institutions and investors doing their business in the city.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Ito Naoki appreciated the investment climate in Da Nang. He remarked that Da Nang is an attractive partner thanks to its culture, tourism, infrastructure, and high-quality human resources. When its major directions, such as the Free Trade Zone and the IVFC, are put into operation, Da Nang's competitiveness will be far-reaching.

So, this conference is expected to further boost the wave of investment from Japanese businesses into the city in the coming time.

This occasion included the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote the friendship and cooperation between Da Nang and Kinokawa City (Wakayama Prefecture, Japan) and a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Da Nang City and Japan's Takara Corporation.
