According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, India ranked sixth among the 10 largest source markets for inbound tourism to Vietnam in 2025, with 746,000 arrivals. The market followed mainland China, South Korea, Taiwan (China), Japan and the United States.

In the first four months of the year alone, more than 324,000 Indian visitors traveled to Vietnam, up 35% compared to the same period last year.

“The Indian tourist market is booming in Vietnam” according to Mr. Nguyen Dac Hieu, Communications and Marketing Manager of the Dolce by Wyndham Hanoi Golden Lake.

He noted that the majority of Indian tourists travel in large groups, combining vacations with MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) events. At the same time, smaller groups such as couples and families are also becoming more common.

Ms. Nguyen Nguyet Van Khanh, Director of Marketing and Communications at Vietravel, said that the peak season for Indian tourists in Vietnam usually runs from April to July when summer holidays begin early in India, and from October to January, coinciding with India’s festive and wedding season.

“Vietnam is a destination where you can tell many different stories” said Rahul Bali, producer of two Bollywood films “Love in Vietnam” and SILLA, both filmed in Vietnam.

Rahul Bali has visited Vietnam several times, and from his perspective, the country’s landscapes are highly cinematic, making a strong visual impression and remaining highly versatile for storytelling.

He also noted that Vietnamese cuisine reflects a balance of freshness and nourishment. Vegetarian options and dishes suited to Indian tastes are becoming increasingly common, helping Indian travelers feel more at home.

Vietnamese culture, he added, conveys a natural sense of sincerity and respect that resonates strongly with Indian visitors.

“But the real strength behind Vietnam’s appeal lies in its people who are quietly warm, disciplined and deeply committed” Bali said.

Beyond cultural appeal, Vietnam also benefits from strong accessibility and affordable travel costs. With an expanding air network and relatively lower on-the-ground expenses compared with many international destinations, the country offers a high-end experience without an excessive price tag.

Another important reason Indian travelers are drawn to Vietnam, according to Bali, is that the destination feels “both unfamiliar and familiar at the same time”. That sense of comfort combined with discovery makes Vietnam especially attractive to Indian visitors who are seeking memorable international experiences.

Bali said Vietnam has already built a strong foundation with the Indian market. However, he suggested that broader outreach, stronger direct connectivity to smaller Indian cities, and faster, more seamless visa procedures would help unlock the next wave of growth.

He also stressed the need to expand vegetarian-friendly dining options, as well as streamline one-stop support mechanisms and issue clearer policies for the further development of tourism products, particularly wedding tourism, MICE and film tourism.

Bollywood film producer Bali emphasized that Vietnam offers a rare combination of beauty, culture and reliability. It is not only a destination, but also a partner for anyone who wants to create something impactful and sustainable.
