(QNO) - The Vietnamese Heroic Mother Monument, located on Cam Mountain in Tam Ky (Quang Nam), has been honoured as one of the 50 exemplary architectural works in the Southern provinces and cities.
The monument, created by architect Nguyen Luan and artist Dinh Gia Thang, is inspired by Nguyen Thi Thu, a heroic mother from Dien Ban, whose nine sons, one son-in-law, and two grandchildren sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of the nation.
The monument covers 150,000 square meters, with the statue standing at 18.5 meters tall. Since its completion in 2015, the monument has become a significant site for honouring the sacrifices of Heroic Mothers, attracting both local and international visitors.
The Vietnam Association of Architects selected the 50 works as part of celebrations for the 50th anniversary of Vietnam’s reunification. Ho Chi Minh City has 8 works listed, while Da Nang and Hue each have 3, with other provinces having 1-2.
