The findings will provide a crucial foundation for the Party and State in formulating policies, strategies and socio-economic development plans.

The census will focus on five major groups of information: identification details, business sector and economic type of each unit; production and business conditions such as labor, assets, and capital; business performance including products, revenue, and expenses; the extent of science and technology adoption, particularly in information technology, digital economy, and e-commerce; along with other in-depth specialized data.

According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Finance, the data collection will take place in two phases.

Phase 1, from January 5 to March 31, 2026, will focus on individual business households in non-agricultural sectors, cooperatives, and religious establishments.

Phase 2, from April 1 to August 31, 2026, will cover enterprises, non-public service units, associations, production units under public institutions, as well as branches and representative offices of domestic and foreign non-governmental organizations licensed to operate in Vietnam.

Preliminary results of the census are expected to be released in January 2027, while the official results will be published in the third quarter of 2027.
