DNO - Vietnam has been named one of the world’s 28 most beautiful countries by prestigious U.S. travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler, underscoring its growing prominence on the global tourism map.
The recognition reflects not only the country’s diverse natural landscapes but also its evolving tourism strategy centered on sustainability and international integration.
In its feature, the magazine highlighted the enduring appeal of major urban hubs such as Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City, which continue to attract large volumes of international visitors.
Yet Vietnam’s broader allure lies beyond its cities, in destinations that offer immersive experiences shaped by nature.
“Cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City draw tons of tourists every year, but Vietnam is also a haven for outdoor enthusiasts (or anyone who simply enjoys a pretty landscape). Ha Long Bay, located in northeast Vietnam, is beloved for its blue waters and spread of limestone islands, all occupied by tropical trees and wildlife. In the northeast, Ha Giang has breathtaking mountain scenery criss-crossed with steep rice terraces and hiking trails. On the southern coast, Ninh Van Bay has great snorkeling and diving. And you can always hop on a quick flight and spend a few days on Phu Quoc, a jungle-draped island off Vietnam’s southwestern coast,” Condé Nast Traveler noted.
Vietnam’s rising profile is also supported by strong tourism performance. According to the National Statistics Office of Vietnam, the country welcomed nearly 4.7 million international visitors in the first two months of 2026, marking an 18.1% increase year-on-year.
The sector is targeting 25 million foreign arrivals and 150 million domestic trips this year, with projected revenue of approximately $42.9 billion.
Earlier rankings by Condé Nast Traveler have also praised Vietnam for its lush terraced rice fields, historic urban landscapes, and emerald bays, distinctive elements that help define the country’s identity as a Southeast Asian destination.
Such recognition from leading travel publications is expected to further elevate Vietnam’s global profile, strengthening its appeal among international travellers while providing fresh momentum for the tourism sector to attract higher visitor numbers in the coming years.
