The number of international visitors to Vietnam increased by 20.4% compared to 2024, significantly outpacing other major destinations in Southeast Asia. Malaysia reported a growth rate of 11.2%, Indonesia 10.4%, Singapore 2.7%, and the Philippines 0.8%.

Meanwhile, several neighboring countries experienced a decline in international arrivals, including Thailand (down 7.2%), Cambodia (down 16.9%), and Myanmar (down 8%).

These figures align with assessments from UN Tourism, which identified Vietnam as one of the fastest-growing tourism markets in the Asia-Pacific region.

The year 2025 marked a strong phase of recovery and consolidation for Vietnam’s tourism sector, with 21.2 million international arrivals, alongside 137 million domestic trips.

Total tourism revenue was estimated at US$40 billion. Industry observers note that Vietnam’s robust performance reflects sustained efforts to facilitate travel, expand air connectivity, diversify tourism products, and accelerate digital transformation across the sector.

Regional cooperation remains a key pillar of this strategy, with ASEAN continuing to serve as one of Vietnam’s most important source markets.

Vietnamese authorities have emphasized strengthening intra-ASEAN tourism collaboration to further stimulate regional travel flows.

Thanks to this rapid growth, Vietnam has reached a new milestone in terms of market scale. With 21.2 million international visitors, the country ranked third in Southeast Asia in 2025, surpassing Singapore and Indonesia.

Only Malaysia, with 42 million arrivals, and Thailand, with 33 million, recorded higher absolute visitor numbers. Beyond the headline figures, the results underscore Vietnam’s growing appeal as a competitive, resilient, and dynamic destination.

The latest data further strengthen Vietnam’s tourism brand in Southeast Asia and beyond, positioning the country as an increasingly influential player in the global travel industry.

Vietnam’s tourism sector recorded a standout performance in 2025, leading Southeast Asia in international visitor growth amid global uncertainty.

Official data show foreign arrivals rose by 20.4%, far outpacing regional peers, as Vietnam welcomed 21.2 million international visitors and generated an estimated US$40 billion in tourism revenue.

Authorities attribute the surge to a stable socio-political environment, high levels of safety, improved air connectivity and diversified tourism products.

Crucially, sweeping visa reforms, including expanded exemptions, longer stays and simplified procedures, have strengthened Vietnam’s appeal, positioning the country as a secure, competitive and increasingly prominent destination in Asia-Pacific tourism.
