On June 3, Deputy Chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People's Committee Ho Quang Buu approved THACO to carry out surveys and develop the project in Nam Tra My, Bac Tra My, and Phuoc Son districts.

This follows a cooperation agreement between Quang Nam’s government and THACO, based on a national plan to develop the medicinal plant industry in the province with Ngoc Linh ginseng as a key product.

THACO was required to provide detailed plans for the survey to the relevant agencies at least five days in advance and seek approval if drones are needed for the survey. The provincial authorities will assist by providing data on land, climate, water, and transport.

The project aims to produce and process Ngoc Linh ginseng and medicinal plants. THACO has set a goal to plant 5,000 hectares of ginseng by 2027 and achieve a USD 50 million export turnover for the province.

THACO will begin surveys in the selected areas in June 2025, with plans to complete the survey by September 2025. They will also work with experts and organisations to research and develop ginseng cultivation and processing technologies
