The proposal was presented during a meeting on July 6 between Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi and representatives of the Vietnam-Russia International Eye Hospital Joint Stock Company and the Union of Rehabilitologists of Russia.
Officials from the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Da Nang, together with representatives of relevant municipal departments and agencies, also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, representatives of the Vietnam-Russia International Eye Hospital Joint Stock Company proposed establishing a specialised eye hospital branch and a rehabilitation clinic in Da Nang.
According to the proposal, the eye hospital would require a site of approximately 1,500 - 2,000 square metres, with a 30 - 40-metre frontage along a major thoroughfare, preferably in the city centre or an area with convenient transport access.
The rehabilitation clinic, with an estimated investment of US$25 - 35 million, would require a construction area of about 5,000 square metres.
Once completed, the projects are expected to create more than 250 high-quality jobs, support workforce training and technology transfer, and position Da Nang as a key hub in the development of a nationwide network of rehabilitation centres.
Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi welcomed the proposal, describing it as well aligned with the city's healthcare development strategy as well as the Party and State's policy of encouraging private investment in high-quality healthcare services.

She assigned the Da Nang Land Development Centre, in coordination with the Office of the People's Committee (Investment Promotion Support Centre), to review and recommend suitable project sites consistent with the city's master plan and development priorities.
The Department of Health was tasked with leading and coordinating with relevant agencies to guide the investor on sector-specific regulations, technical standards, investment requirements, and licensing procedures for medical examination and treatment services.
The Da Nang Department of Finance, the Department of Construction, and the Da Nang Department of Agriculture and Environment were instructed to work closely with relevant agencies to proactively assist the investor throughout the project assessment and administrative approval process.
The Office of the Da Nang People's Committee was also tasked with directing the Investment Promotion Support Centre to continue serving as the focal point for coordinating and supporting the investor.
The Vietnam-Russia International Eye Hospital was established under the Vietnam-Russian Federation Ophthalmology Cooperation Programme, an agreement signed by the health ministries of both countries on April 12, 2007.
After nearly 16 years of operation, the hospital has expanded its network to six branches across Vietnam, located in the capital city of Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Can Tho, and Quang Tri.
