(QNO) - From May 18 to 22, the Quang Nam Union of Friendly Organisations, in collaboration with the Vietnam – Lao Friendship Association and local agencies, conducted a humanitarian mission in Kaleum district (Sekong province, Laos).
During the trip, the Quang Nam delegation donated water filters and essential supplies and provided free medical check-ups, treatments, and eye surgeries for locals.
About 1,500 Lao people received general health exams focusing on internal medicine, cardiology, surgery, and more, along with free medicines.
Supported by both government funding and donors from Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, the mission successfully performed 200 cataract and pterygium surgeries and distributed 100 Sawyer mini water filter sets and 300 gifts for disadvantaged students and residents.
Chairman of the Vietnam - Lao Friendship Association Tran Van Mai stated that beyond health care, this mission strengthened the special friendship and cooperation between Quang Nam and Sekong provinces.
The delegation also exchanged medical expertise between Vietnamese and Lao doctors and reviewed collaboration efforts over the past year.
