(QNO) - A delegation from Quang Nam (Vietnam), led by Nguyen Duc Dung, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, paid a working visit to Sekong (Laos) on April 10.
Receiving the delegation, Leklay Sivilay, Governor of Sekong province, expressed his pleasure at Quang Nam’s visit on the occasion of Laos' traditional New Year, Bunpimay, highlighting the strengthened bond between the two nations and provinces.
Leklay Sivilay also mentioned significant economic advancements in Sekong during 2024, improved living standards, and ongoing infrastructure developments despite remaining challenges.
Nguyen Duc Dung conveyed sincere condolences from Quang Nam's Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee on the recent passing of Khamtai Siphandone, former President of Laos and veteran revolutionary leader, appreciating his significant contributions to Vietnam - Laos relations.
Nguyen Duc Dung shared updates on Quang Nam's socio-economic progress in 2024, emphasising goals for investment attraction and vigorous infrastructure development, particularly in shared border areas.
On the occasion of Bunpimay, Nguyen Duc Dung wished Sekong leadership, officials, soldiers, and people a warm, united, and successful New Year.
He expressed hopes for overcoming challenges and fostering mutual development alongside Quang Nam, reinforcing the special relationship between the two parties, states, and peoples.
During this visit, Quang Nam donated numerous traditional New Year gifts and nearly VND 500 million for social welfare and housing reconstruction for families affected by fires.
