(QNO) - On April 15, the Da Nang Medical Association, in coordination with the Department of Health, the Department of Tourism, and the Da Nang Tourism Association, organized a seminar on the development of medical tourism in the city.
The seminar was organized to review the current state and potential of developing medical tourism in Da Nang; to connect relevant stakeholders such as healthcare - tourism - investment - media - and local authorities to work together in building a sustainable development strategy for this field.
According to seminar participants, with its potential and advantages, Da Nang is well-positioned to become a leading medical tourism hub in Central Vietnam and across the country. However, in practice, the city’s medical tourism sector remains in its early stages and still lacks strong coordination among key stakeholders.
On this occasion, participants delivered several notable presentations, covering topics such as: solutions for promoting and developing medical tourism; experiences in building and expanding medical tourism models; the smart medical tourism approach; and the development of traditional medicine services and products to support health tourism in Da Nang.
In March 2025, the People’s Committee of Da Nang City announced a plan for the development of medical tourism in the city for the period 2025–2030, with a vision extending to 2050.
The development framework views medical tourism as a key solution for improving service quality, building an advanced and modern healthcare system, and fostering the growth of several high-level sectors, with the ultimate goal of establishing Da Nang as a healthcare hub in Southeast Asia.
