DNO - The Pickleball World Cup 2026 in Da Nang expects to set a new record, with the participation of around 4,000 athletes from 80 countries and territories.
Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Council and President of the Da Nang Pickleball Federation (DPF) Tran Phuoc Son, on Friday, received and held a working session with a delegation from the Pickleball World Cup organization at the Tien Son Sports Arena during their visit and working trip to Da Nang.
The meeting marked the initial step in cooperation between the DPF and the Pickleball World Cup organization regarding the hosting of the Pickleball World Cup 2026.
According to the plan, the Pickleball World Cup 2026 will take place in Da Nang from August 30 to September 6. This will be the first time the tournament is held in Asia, promising thrilling matches and emotional excitement with the participation of the world’s top players.
Mr. Tran Phuoc Son, Standing Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Council and President of DPF, expressed his delight at the visit by the Pickleball World Cup organization and its selection of Da Nang as the host city for the world-class event.
He informed that the pickleball movement has been spreading strongly across the city. Da Nang is the first locality in Vietnam to establish a Pickleball Federation.
In addition to promoting grassroots movements, Da Nang aims to develop pickleball at a professional level. The city’s athletes have made great efforts in competition and won numerous medals at national and international tournaments.
The city has also been actively promoting the hosting of pickleball tournaments. In 2025, Da Nang successfully organized the PPA Tour Asia - MB Vietnam Cup 2025 for the first time, leaving a strong impression. Notably, the event turned the Tien Son Sports Arena into a focal point on the global pickleball map.
For the first time in Vietnam, spectators were able to witness top superstars in person. A historic moment was set on the final day, with 7,906 spectators in attendance, helping the tournament establish a Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at a pickleball event.
With its experience and favorable conditions, Da Nang is capable of successfully hosting the Pickleball World Cup 2026.
Speaking at the meeting, leaders of the Pickleball World Cup organization said they had taken time to tour and explore Da Nang and were impressed by the city’s beauty and development. Da Nang boasts many high-quality pickleball court clusters capable of serving major tournaments.
They also emphasized that the achievements and milestones Da Nang has attained are commendable, reflecting the city’s efforts in developing the pickleball movement.
At the same time, they expressed hope that the meeting would open up opportunities for both sides to cooperate effectively in organizing the Pickleball World Cup 2026 successfully.
Approximately 4,000 top pickleball players expected in Da Nang
At the meeting, leaders of the Pickleball World Cup organization shared that 2026 will mark the fourth edition of the tournament.
Previously, the event was held in Peru (twice) and Florida (the USA). In 2023, the inaugural tournament featured only 14 players representing different countries. By 2024, the number of participating countries rose to 33.
The peak came in 2025, when the Pickleball World Cup recorded participation from 68 countries and territories, with more than 3,000 players competing in the United States.
The Pickleball World Cup 2026 in Da Nang is expected to set a new record, with around 4,000 athletes from 80 countries and territories taking part.
The Pickleball World Cup organization will send invitations and request pickleball federations worldwide to nominate their top athletes to participate, thereby enhancing the overall quality of the tournament.
