DNO - More than 10,000 students took part in the Heritage Education in Schools programme at My Son in the 2024 - 2025 academic year.
The programme aimed to enhance participants' cultural and historical understanding, foster their love for homeland, and raise their awareness of preserving and promoting the value of local cultural heritage.
The information was revealed at a meeting held by the My Son World Cultural Heritage Management Board on Tuesday.
Accordingly, in the 2024 - 2025 school year, the My Son World Cultural Heritage Management Board organized six heritage education activities, attracting 5,100 pupils from 49 primary, and junior and senior high schools across the former Duy Xuyen District.
In particular, nearly 100 pupils with disabilities from the Quang Nam Center for Hearing-Impaired Children and Inclusive Education, and 5,000 university students majoring in tourism, culture, architecture, and fine arts joined extracurricular study tours at the My Son Sanctuary, the My Son Museum, and the Sa Huynh - Champa Culture Museum.
In addition to learning about the historical artifacts and cultural heritage values, the participants experienced some traditional crafts and folk games of the Cham and Vietnamese ethnic groups.
Moreover, the Management Board organized a number of exciting competitions such as bilingual (Vietnamese - English) video-making to introduce My Son World Heritage, the “Student Heritage Tour Guide” competition (with English commentary), and practical exercises in guiding and interpretation skills.
On the occasion, the My Son World Cultural Heritage Management Board presented gifts to outstanding pupils, students and teachers who actively participated in and successfully completed the 2024 - 2025 Heritage Education in Schools programme.
