Translated by VAN GIANG May 23, 2025 20:36

(QNO) – On May 16, Quang Nam announced the completion of Ky Ha channel dredging and the launch of the Chu Lai – India route, marking a key step in port development and boosting its role as a regional logistics hub with global reach.

At the ceremony

After nearly four months of construction, the Ky Ha channel dredging project was completed on schedule and put into operation in mid-May 2025. The project was a joint effort between THILOGI and Quang Nam authorities.

The CHANA BHUM vessel, operated by RCL, will transport nearly 800 containers of goods to India.

More importantly, the project was carried out with comprehensive environmental protection measures, ensuring no impact on the marine ecosystem or local fishermen's livelihoods. It has been handed over to the Vietnam Maritime Administration for management without requiring reimbursement from the state budget.

Right after the announcement of the channel dredging completion, Chu Lai International Port welcomed the CHANA BHUM vessel from RCL, officially launching the fixed Chu Lai - India shipping route. This milestone marks a significant transformation of Chu Lai from a domestic port to one reaching international markets.

Completing Ky Ha dredging and opening the Chu Lai – India route mark a key milestone for Chu Lai Economic Zone.

Quang Nam hopes THILOGI and Chu Lai International Port will expand international shipping routes to major markets like China, South Korea, and Japan, and invest further in green, smart port and logistics infrastructure.
