(QNO) - As global economic integration deepens, Quang Nam is showcasing its strategic vision and strong determination to tap into its maritime economic potential.
The Cua Lo channel project, a crucial part of the Quang Nam provincial development plan, is being quickly implemented to accommodate 50,000-ton vessels, opening a promising new chapter for logistics operations and attracting investments into the Chu Lai economic zone.
On the occasion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to Quang Nam in February 2024, THACO and Quang Nam's leadership proposed the investment in the Cua Lo Channel for 50,000 DWT vessels and the development of a container logistics centre in Chu Lai.
With a total estimated investment of VND 7,200 billion (around USD 280 million), this project is not merely a dredging project but a strategic boost to create a complete logistics infrastructure linked to the 797-hectare Tam Hoa Duty Free Zone, the seaport system, and industrial areas in the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone.
The main goal of the project is to dredge the Cua Lo Channel, ensuring a depth suitable for large vessels, along with constructing bridges connecting the Tam Hiep and Tam Hoa ports, enhancing internal transport links. The road connecting the Vietnam - Korea Industrial Zone with Vo Chi Cong Road will complete the transport network, optimising cargo movement between production areas and the seaport.
Tam Hoa Duty Free Zone will offer significant investment incentives, such as VAT exemptions and import duty reductions, which will lower costs for businesses and increase international competitiveness. Its strategic location, directly connecting to Chu Lai port through the Cua Lo channel, creates a major logistics advantage.
