DNO - What if a bowl of noodles could tell the story of an entire region? In Da Nang, My Quang Show is turning one of Central Vietnam’s most beloved dishes into a multi-sensory cultural experience, combining food, music, light, dance and hands-on interaction.

For generations, My Quang (Quang noodles) has been more than a local specialty. Its golden noodles, fresh herbs, savoury broth and colourful toppings are closely woven into the everyday life of Da Nang locals, and Central Vietnam as a whole.
Behind every bowl lies a story of rice fields, farmers, family kitchens and the rhythms of village life. Now, that story is stepping onto the stage.
Created by the Viet Heritage JSC and currently being piloted at An Hai Cultural Centre (2 Vu Van Dung Street, Da Nang), the My Quang Show offers visitors a different way to discover Vietnamese culture.
Through music, lighting, choreography and visual storytelling, the show follows rice from the fields to the kitchen, introducing audiences to the people and traditions behind My Quang.
The performance also includes interactive elements, allowing visitors to try parts of the noodle-making process, engage with the performers and taste the dish at the end of the show.

Rather than simply watching a cultural performance, visitors get to see how a familiar local dish is made and learn about the everyday traditions surrounding it.
For international travellers, it offers a straightforward introduction to My Quang and the culture of Central Vietnam.
Ms Nguyen Bong Mai, the Executive Director and General Director of My Quang Show, describes the concept as “one destination, many experiences”, bringing audiences closer to the story rather than keeping them as passive spectators.
The approach reflects the growing demand for experiential tourism, where visitors want to do more than simply receive information.

Instead of just learning about the origins of My Quang, they can take part in the process, experience the local traditions and taste the dish for themselves.
That approach reflects a growing trend in international tourism as travellers are increasingly looking for experiences they can participate in rather than simply observe.
New way to experience Da Nang’s culture through food
For Nguyen Nhu Nam, Director of An Nam Travel & Event JSC, bringing My Quang onto the stage offers the potential to create a distinctive culinary and cultural tourism product.
Instead of presenting food as something to be consumed, the show explores the ingredients, craftsmanship and traditions behind it, turning a familiar dish into a gateway to local culture.
The concept has already made an impression on international visitors. Jagdeep, a visitor from Australia, said the combination of different art forms offered an engaging way to discover Vietnamese culture.

Before attending the show, he had never heard of My Quang. After tasting it during the performance, he said he planned to seek out the dish again during the rest of his stay in Vietnam.
The same philosophy is emerging in other cultural tourism experiences in Da Nang.
In July 2026, the city introduced a tea experience at Ban Co Peak on the Son Tra Peninsula, combining panoramic views with a demonstration of Vietnamese tea preparation, cultural storytelling and tea tasting.
A culinary experience can offer more than a chance to try a local dish. It can also introduce visitors to the ingredients, traditions and everyday life behind it.
For international travellers, My Quang Show provides an accessible way to learn about a signature dish in Da Nang and Central Vietnamese culture through a combination of performance, food and hands-on activities.
