DNO - A delegation from Laos visited Da Nang on August 27 to exchange experience and explore opportunities for cooperation in digital transformation, semiconductor chip design and artificial intelligence (AI), reflecting the growing ties between Vietnam and Laos in emerging technology sectors.
The Lao delegation was led by Lao Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Laos-Vietnam Cooperation Committee Santiphab Phomvihane.
In attendance at the working session with the Lao deleation were Deputy Minister of Finance cum Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-Laos Cooperation Committee Tran Quoc Phuong, and Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Tran Nam Hung.
The meeting took place at the Da Nang Semiconductor and AI Centre - DSAC, located at the Da Nang Software Park No. 2 in Hai Chau Ward.
The center serves as an important platform for research, training and the development of high-quality human resources in advanced technology fields.
Addressing the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Tran Nam Hung affirmed that the central Vietnamese city attaches great importance to strengthening its friendship and cooperation with Lao localities, particularly in areas in which the two sides share potential and complementary strengths.
He expressed his belief that the visit would help deepen mutual understanding and trust while opening up new opportunities for cooperation between Da Nang and Lao localities and partners.
Such cooperation, he said, would contribute positively to the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic cohesion between Vietnam and Laos.
During the working session, representatives of the DSAC briefed the Lao delegation on the city’s development orientations and achievements in digital transformation, semiconductor technology and AI.
The Lao delegation also explored the facilities and operating model of Software Park No. 2, gaining first-hand insights into the ecosystem being developed to support technology enterprises, research activities and human-resource training.
Members of the visiting delegation visited several organizations operating at the site and learned about their activities and development directions.
The visit provided an opportunity for the two sides to exchange practical experience and strengthen connections among relevant government agencies, research institutions, organizations and businesses.
Through these exchanges, Da Nang and its Lao partners are seeking areas with potential for deeper cooperation in the coming period.
In particular, Da Nang shared its experience and approaches in developing emerging technology sectors, while promoting closer links with Lao agencies, institutions and businesses.
These efforts are expected to contribute to advancing cooperation in digital transformation, semiconductor technology and artificial intelligence, while creating new opportunities for practical and mutually beneficial collaboration.
