During the recent historic floods, Hoi An still welcomed a large number of international tourists. Some expressed their sympathy, shared resources and directly participated in community aid activities in deeply flooded areas.
Through the connection by Mrs. Luong Thuy Ha, the owner of Beachside Boutique Hoi An in Hoi An Tay Ward, hundreds of millions of VND have been raised for relief efforts from both domestic and foreign donors.
According to Mrs. Luong Thuy Ha, two European guests staying at the Beachside Boutique Hoi An donated VND 10 million upon hearing the information. Since October 31, more foreign tourists and expats living in Hoi An have continued to contribute to the fundraising campaign.
In addition to money, they have donated food, milk, bottled water and other essentials, packing them into boxes for delivery to flood-affected areas. Some tourists have expressed their desire to join the relief team.
Mr. Jai, 39, a tourist from Australia, said " It’s very meaningful for me to join the relief team. It’s also a memorable experience because part of the purpose of our trip to Hoi An is to give back to the local community through tourism”.
