DNO - Fire Dragon Therapy, a therapeutic method developed by traditional medicine practitioner Phan Cong Tuan, is currently being applied to support the treatment of various diseases, and opening up a direction for the medical tourism development in Da Nang.

Proven effectiveness
At the Da Nang Traditional Medicine Hospital, the Fire Dragon Therapy method has gained the trust of many patients, including international patients.
Ms. Johnson Gail Rose from the U.S.A was admitted to the hospital with limited mobility and difficulty walking. After a combined treatment course, including Fire Dragon Therapy, her mobility improved significantly.
Not only attracting international patients, this method is also chosen by many local people. Many cases of musculoskeletal pain, sleep disorders, and physical weakness have recorded positive changes after treatment.
Similarly, Mrs. Le Thi Mai, 48, from Hai Chau District, shared her experience of prolonged sleep disorders and constant fatigue. After receiving consultation, she decided to try Fire Dragon Therapy.
“Initially, I was quite worried because the method uses heat. However, during the process, it was not as hot as I had imagined. After several treatment sessions, I slept better and felt less stressed” Ms. Mai said.

Towards medical tourism development
According to physician Phan Cong Tuan, Fire Dragon Therapy originated from Chinese fire therapy techniques, which he refined based on the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
The method was first introduced in the Journal of Precious Medicinal Plants in 2008 and has been gradually applied at the Da Nang Traditional Medicine Hospital.
“The procedure must strictly follow the principles of meridians and acupoints in Eastern medicine. It is not a form of mass heat burning or fire massage, as many people mistakenly believe” physician Phan Cong Tuan emphasized.
The method is now used to support the treatment of various conditions, including musculoskeletal, digestive, gynecological, and men’s health disorders, while also contributing to general healthcare and physical recovery.
In 2018, the Ministry of Health recognized this method under the name “Fire Therapy”, gradually integrating it into the traditional medicine treatment system.
Currently, the Da Nang Traditional Medicine Hospital continues to refine the technical process in a more specialized direction, and incorporates Fire Dragon Therapy into its list of services to support the city’s medical tourism development strategy.
According to Deputy Director of Da Nang Traditional Medicine Hospital Nguyen The Truyen, the hospital always focuses on implementing new techniques. Among them, the Fire Dragon Therapy technique has been transferred to eight traditional medicine hospitals nationwide.
He added the standardization and expansion of this technique contributes to diversifying treatment methods, thereby meeting the growing healthcare needs of the public.
From a foreign-origin fire therapy technique, Fire Dragon Therapy is gradually making its mark in Da Nang’s traditional medicine and wellness tourism sector.
