Da Nang’s Song Kon Commune turned into a vibrant cultural stage on September 20 as the first Co Tu Traditional Cultural Festival officially opened, offering both local and international travelers an unforgettable journey into the traditions of the Co Tu people.
Over two days, more than 550 artisans, performers, and village elders from 11 hamlets gathered to showcase the community’s rich heritage.
Visitors were welcomed with dazzling “Tang Tung - Da Da" dances, the symbolic Prơngooch brotherhood ceremony, and lively folk singing exchanges.
Traditional games such as bamboo pole walking and slingshot contests added playful energy, while food lovers indulged in authentic Co Tu cuisine.
Exhibitions of “One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) goods and stalls featuring Song Kon’s distinctive specialties gave tourists the chance to experience the creativity and craftsmanship of local villagers.
For many, it was not just a festival but a living museum of Co Tu life where culture and hospitality blend seamlessly.
According to Do Huu Tung, the Chairman of Song Kon Commune, the event aims to preserve cultural identity while also inviting visitors to explore eco-tourism, community-based tourism, and sustainable local products.
The festival also serves as a symbolic reunion for Song Kon, Jo Ngay, and A Ting communes after administrative restructuring, reinforcing regional unity.
Blending colorful traditions with interactive experiences, the Co Tu Cultural Festival is emerging as a signature draw for Da Nang, inviting visitors to discover authentic culture and community-based tourism.
