DNO - The 4th Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF IV) will take place from June 28 to July 4 in Da Nang City, further affirming its position as the only annual international film festival in Vietnam in accordance with international standards.
Scale expansion and prestige enhancement
Launched in 2023, the DANAFF has quickly established itself as a professional and prestigious cinematic event in the region. DANAFF IV continues honoring outstanding films with rich human values and creative exploration of artistic language.
DANAFF IV, under the message “Bridging Asia to the World,” is expected to become the largest-ever edition of the festival, featuring several new programs, expanding international connections, and promoting the development of the Vietnamese film industry.
Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Film Development Association (VFDA) affirmed the festival not only expands in scale but also gradually asserts its own identity, becoming a convergence space for filmmakers, artists, film experts, and domestic and international cinema-loving audiences.
The Organizing Committee of the DANAFF IV has officially received 218 films (compared to 106 films in 2025).
Reportedly, 12 Asian feature films have been so far selected for competition from various countries/territories, including Vietnam, the Philippines, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, China, Pakistan, and India, along with international co-production projects.
Notably, Vietnam has one official entry competing for awards and one co-production project with the United States, demonstrating the increasingly clear efforts of Vietnamese cinema to integrate internationally.
Cooperation opportunities for Vietnamese film industry
For the first time, DANAFF IV will organize the “Spotlight on American Cinema” program, featuring 11 films along with special screenings, offering the public the opportunity to access key milestones of one of the most influential film industries in the world.
Mr. Jérémy Segay, Southeast Asia Audiovisual Attaché at the French Embassy in Vietnam, serving as advisor for this year's film industry networking program shared, the DANAFF IV's organizing committee will invite 10 major studios and film distribution companies in Vietnam to present their works. In addition, 22 international film buyers from 13 countries/territories will also invited to Vietnam to meet with domestic partners.
In addition, Script Lab (DANAFF Talents) will be launched with the partnership of Columbia University (USA), offering opportunities for training, project development, and access to an international advisory network for filmmakers.
The DANAFF will also open up a booth at the APEC Park for the first time. This is a space for exchange, promotion, and experience, where cinema connects more closely with businesses, brands, artists, tourists, and film-loving audiences.
Da Nang towards a city of film studio
Da Nang City is now a fairly famous destination. The city serves as a natural film studio and a locality with profound heritage depth. Notably, Da Nang has become a cultural convergence point, situated along the heritage axis of Hue - Hoi An - My Son.
The intersection between the modernity of a young urban center and the cultural depth of the Quang region provides filmmakers with abundant material for creative expression.
DANAFF is not only about film screenings but also a place to nurture talent. Programs such as DANAFF Talents and the Project Market have created an ecosystem, connecting young filmmakers with experts, producers, and investment funds. This is exactly how we build a value chain for the film industry right here in Da Nang, fostering the development of the local creative community.
With the success of DANAFF over the past years, as well as the city's orientations and vision for cultural industry development, a dynamic and prestigious Da Nang, a future film city of Asia, is being anticipated.
