Da Nang, Viettel partner in science, technology and digital transformation for 2026 - 2030

DNO - The Da Nang People’s Committee and the Military Industry and Telecommunications Group (Viettel), on Thursday, signed a cooperation agreement on science, technology development, and digital transformation for the 2026 - 2030 period.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Le Ngoc Quang, Chairman of the local People's Committee Nguyen Manh Hung, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Ngo Xuan Thang, and Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee Ho Quang Buu, along with leaders of local departments and agencies.

Representing Viettel at the ceremony were Lieutenant General Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and General Director of Viettel Group, and representatives of the group's member units.

Under the deal, Da Nang and Viettel will leverage their respective strengths and resources to accelerate digital transformation across the city.

Key areas of cooperation will include improving institutional frameworks; developing next-generation digital infrastructure through expanded 5G coverage; investing in data centers, cloud computing, and Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure; and building shared databases and digital platforms to enhance state governance and improve services for residents and businesses.

Viettel will support the research, consultation and implementation of strategic solutions and projects serving the development of smart cities. Included will be digital city replicas, smart data platforms, smart transportation, healthcare systems, civil defense, smart free trade zones, and digital government platforms.

The group will also foster the development of an innovation ecosystem and promote digital transformation among small and medium-sized enterprises and household businesses.

Additionally, Viettel will contribute to strengthening the research and application of strategic technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and semiconductor technologies, as well as ensuring cybersecurity and developing a highly skilled workforce.

In his remarks at the signing ceremony, Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Nguyen Manh Hung highlighted the significance of the cooperation agreement in reflecting the strong determination of Da Nang and Viettel in building a smart city, developing the digital economy and digital society, and improving the quality of services for citizens and businesses.

He asked for continued support from Viettel to develop modern digital infrastructure, particularly 5G networks, data centers, and cloud computing.

He also requested Viettel to continue cooperation in building and effectively exploiting digital data, AI solutions, and big data for management and operation, as well as to promote digital transformation of businesses and develop the digital economic ecosystem.

The chairman further highlighted the need to develop digital platforms serving residents in healthcare, education, transportation, public services, and social welfare.

Da Nang will also deepen cooperation in information security, cybersecurity, disaster prevention, and emergency response through technology-based solutions, he emphasized.

Addressing the ceremony, municipal Party Committee Secretary Le Ngoc Quang stated that the agreement marked not only a significant milestone in the partnership between Da Nang and Viettel but also demonstrated their determination to realize the city’s ambition of becoming a smart urban center, an innovation hub, and a key growth driver for the region.

He expressed his hope that Viettel would continue to accompany the city in researching, advising on, and pioneering new development models, while implementing digital transformation initiatives driven by data and AI.

These efforts, he said, would contribute to building a highly competitive innovation ecosystem and digital economy.

At the same time, he urged departments, agencies, and local authorities to coordinate closely to ensure the effective implementation of the partnership’s initiatives, delivering tangible benefits to residents and businesses.
