Da Nang affirms pioneering position in digital transformation

Da Nang is promoting the application of digital technologies in various fields from education to culture and social welfare.

In particular, the Da Nang Museum stands out by putting AI Chatbot into operation to provide information and assist visitors without language barriers.

The museum also deploys a digital display system, a 3D mapping cinema and especially the HeriStepAI platform which is an intelligent automated audio-guide system available in more than ten languages and offers visitors an immersive experience comparable to having a personal tour guide.

In higher education, a group of students from the Vietnam - Korea University of Information and Communications Technology under the University of Da Nang have developed the EduMate project. The project is designed to help teachers reduce workload and improve teaching efficiency.

According to the municipal Department of Science and Technology, Da Nang remains the country’s leading locality in implementing digital government. The city has provided 2,118 online public services, of which 100% of eligible procedures have been now fully digitized and processed end to end.

Da Nang also operates the Intelligent Operations Center (IOC) with more than 160 data categories and 50 types of real-time warnings, enabling evidence-based decision-making for city leaders.

In addition, the city has heavily invested in technology infrastructure, including the Software Park No. 2, an Artificial Intelligence Lab, and an Advanced Semiconductor Packaging Laboratory (Fab-Lab).

In terms of digital society, Da Nang has placed citizens at the heart of digital transformation through such initiatives as “Digital Literacy for All”, “Digital Ambassadors”, “Community Digital Technology Teams”, “Digital Markets”, and the “One Citizen - One Digital Identity” program.

Moreover, AI is being integrated widely into public administration, healthcare, education, transport and urban management, tourism, environmental monitoring, and agriculture.

Notable applications include AI chatbots and virtual assistants, robotic process automation (RPA), AI-assisted medical diagnosis, adaptive learning models, smart traffic management systems, smart tourism, and IoT-based environmental and agricultural monitoring.

Director of the Da Nang Department of Science and Technology Nguyen Thanh Hong said that the city will continue to monitor and accelerate digital transformation, develop an innovation ecosystem, enhance collaboration between enterprises, universities, and international experts, and pilot new technologies through regulatory sandboxes.

Da Nang is now a model of local-level digital transformation, gradually integrating AI with big data in order to build an effective digital government, a dynamic digital economy and a comprehensive digital society.
