Da Nang, Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association strengthen investment cooperation

At the meeting, Chairman Hung briefed the delegation on Da Nang’s socio-economic performance during the first seven months of 2026.

Alongside its traditional growth drivers, the city is accelerating new development initiatives, including the Vietnam International Financial Center in Da Nang and the Free Trade Zone (FTZ).

The city is also investing in key infrastructure and attracting investment in semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI) and other high-tech industries.

The chairman took the opportunity to call on SSIA to encourage its member companies to invest in the semiconductor industry and supporting industries at the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park, industrial parks and Free Trade Zone.

He also voiced his hope that SSIA would help connect Singaporean semiconductor corporations with the city’s local innovation ecosystem, especially the Da Nang Semiconductor and Artificial Intelligence Center for Research and Training (DSAC), as well as work with the University of Da Nang to develop a highly skilled workforce.

Mr. Hung reaffirmed the city’s commitment to providing the most favorable conditions for businesses to cooperate and contribute to Da Nang’s growth, and further strengthening Vietnam - Singapore relations.

For his part, SSIA Executive Director Ang Wee Seng thanked the city for its warm reception.

He said the association, which has around 300 members, wished to gain a deeper understanding of Da Nang's industrial ecosystem and human resources.

He added that the delegation hoped to become a long-term partner in fostering exchanges and expanding cooperation in workforce training.

Following the reception, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ho Quang Buu chaired a working session with SSIA representatives and Singaporean businesses.

During the working session, representatives from the municipal Department of Science and Technology provided information on the science, technology, innovation development orientation, along with preferential mechanisms and support policies for semiconductor enterprises.

Based on these discussions, both sides explored key areas for future cooperation, with a focus on building an integrated ecosystem for education, research and the supply of high-quality human resources.

As part of the program, SSIA signed Memoranda of Understanding with several partners in Da Nang, including the Department of Industry and Trade, the University of Da Nang, DSAC, the Da Nang Young Entrepreneurs’ Association, the Da Nang Information Technology Park Development JSC (DITP) and several local enterprises.

To date, Da Nang has attracted 46 Singapore-invested projects with a total registered capital of US$5.017 billion, making Singapore the city's largest foreign investor among 58 countries and territories. Of these, seven projects are located in the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Zones.
