DNO - In addition to its amazing beaches and green, clean and beautiful resorts, Da Nang has been actively shaping tourism spaces along the Han River and other waterways to offer attractive, unique, and culturally rich experiences to visitors.

Connecting riverside spaces
One of the most notable highlights was the relocation of the Da Nang Museum to its new address at 42 Bach Dang Street in March 2025. This move not only refreshes the museum's appearance but also contributes to creating a prominent cultural and tourist destination along the Han River, diversifying the experiences for visitors to Da Nang.
From this shift, Mr. Huynh Dinh Quoc Thien, Director of the Da Nang Museum, has repeatedly mentioned the formation of a cultural and tourism space along the Han River.
Accordingly, besides the Da Nang Museum, tourists can combine their visits to the Museum of Cham Sculpture, the Dien Hai Citadel, the Han Market, the Hai Chau Village Communal House, the Phuoc Ninh Cemetery, or the historical site at 52 - 54 Tran Binh Trong Street. These destinations are all located on or near Bach Dang Street.
Notably, the Bach Dang Walking Street, inaugurated in June 2024, is gradually becoming the focal point for nighttime tourism. Also, the city has approved to pour VND 149 billion into the implementation of the artistic lighting project “River of Light” (Phase 1), during the 2025 - 2027 period.

Nighttime tourism challenges and creative solutions
According to Ms. Bui Huong, manager of a tourism - service business on Bach Dang Walking Street, the Han River’s nighttime tourism space remains rather subdued. For example, the Han Market, dubbed a major visitor magnet, closes in late afternoon, and cultural or entertainment activities along the river remain limited.
From the perspective of a tourism operator, she said the Han River area would attract more tourists if businesses were supported to organize combined art shows like those once offered by Da Nang Downtown, early-morning SUP tours to watch the sunrise on the river, or extended operating hours at Han Market to boost nighttime tourism.
Ms. Pham Nhat Nu Nhu Hoa, Director of the Dong Vinh Thinh Co., Ltd. which specializes in operating river cruises on the Han River, believes that tourism products could further the historical story of the former Cua Han area, showcase traditional folk singing on the river, or research the possibility of drone light shows similar to those used in Nha Trang alongside the fireworks festival. Developing sailing tours and kayak racing is another promising direction.
Thus, developing these products will not only enhance the competitiveness of the destination but also contribute to telling rich cultural and historical stories amidst unique natural landscapes, giving visitors deeper insight into the identity of Da Nang.
