This issue was spotlighted at the conference titled “Investment Promotion for Da Nang’s Free Trade Zone and Logistics Infrastructure” jointly organized on Friday by the Import - Export Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the city's Department of Industry and Trade.

According to Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Industry and Trade Do Thi Quynh Tram, the Da Nang Free Trade Zone is designed as a hub for manufacturing, logistics, trade, services, digital industries, and innovation. The functional zones are closely integrated with seaports, international airports, financial centers, economic zones, and industrial parks.

Foreign enterprises operating in the free trade zone are not required to obtain investment certificates or project approvals to establish their operations. All businesses are eligible for corporate income tax exemptions for the first four years, a 50% tax reduction for the following nine years, and a preferential tax rate of 10% for 15 years.

In addition, the zone offers priority customs procedures and financial support for infrastructure investment. The city is also proposing several additional special incentives and policies to the National Assembly for consideration during the 10th session of the 15th National Assembly.

The Da Nang Free Trade Zone is planned in conjunction with the deep-water Lien Chieu Port.

According to the Lien Chieu Port project, the port will cover an area of 450 hectares and comprise three main subdivisions: a container terminal with eight berths capable of receiving 200,000-DWT vessels; a general cargo terminal with six berths handling ships from 30,000 to 100,000 DWT; and an LNG and LPG terminal. Areas for future petroleum and liquid cargo terminals will also be arranged within the port’s breakwater.

According to the forecast of cargo volume, by 2050, the Lien Chieu Port is likely to handle up to 100 million tons of cargo per year. At the same time, it is expected to be an international gateway capable of attracting major transport and logistics companies around the world.

The city is currently seeking strategic investors for the container terminal, with three major investors having already submitted proposals.

Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, Deputy Director of the Import - Export Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, acknowledged that Da Nang’s central location in Central Vietnam made it a strategic connection point on the North - South axis and the East - West Economic Corridor connecting with Myanmar, Thailand and Laos to the East Sea. This unique positioning, he noted, provided a rare opportunity for the city to emerge as a major international trading and logistics hub.

Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Le Quang Nam affirmed the city’s commitment to working alongside businesses and international partners, and listening and creating the most favorable conditions to turn ideas into concrete action. The purpose is to transform Da Nang’s potential into real values and make the city a place worth living, worth investing, and trustworthy for the international community as well as the domestic community.
