DNO - The planning project for the My Son Sanctuary Special National Site until 2035, with a vision to 2050, is about to be established. It is expected to ensure the preservation and development of the site in line with its true stature as a UNESCO-recognized World Heritage Site.

The My Son Sanctuary is currently one of two UNESCO-recognized World Heritage Sites in Da Nang.

The complex is recognized for its historical, cultural, archaeological and architectural values; diverse biodiversity; great potential for the development of tourism and services; and its vital role as a core hub for connections and development momentums.

As a connecting nucleus, the My Son Sanctuary is part of the city’s cultural value system, and the systems of Champa relics and other heritages in the central region.

In 2024 alone, the site welcomed more than 450,000 visitors and earned over VND 70 billion in tourism revenue. However, the figure was still quite modest, showing that the site’s potential has not been fully tapped.

With the 2008 - 2020 plan for conserving and promoting My Son Sanctuary now expired, there is an urgent need for a comprehensive new plan to enhance the value of the site in the new context.

The new planning project aims to preserve, restore and promote the values of the My Son Sanctuary, maintain its position as an attractive cultural tourist destination, and protect forest resources, biodiversity and community cultural heritage in the planning research area.

At the same time, the planning process emphasizes connecting the My Son Sanctuary with the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture and other relic sites and scenic spots in the city.

The purpose is to form a chain of tourism products combined with environmental protection, thereby contributing to the socio-economic development of Da Nang in general and Thu Bon Commune in particular.
