DNO - Da Nang is actively speeding up the implementation of electronic medical records (EMRs) at hospitals citywide. All hospitals and inpatient institutions nationwide are required to complete the rollout by September 30, 2025.
At its self-assessment programme for the EMR system according to the regulations of the Ministry of Health, the Sai Gon Tam Ky General Hospital’s EMR system meets all requirements, enabling it to replace paper-based medical records.
Meanwhile, at a conference to evaluate the implementation of EMRs hosted by the Da Nang C Hospital, Dr. Nguyen Trong Thien, the hospital’s Director, said that adopting EMRs was an important step in the digital transformation of healthcare.
The complete replacement of paper medical records will contribute to reducing administrative procedures, improving the quality of medical data, ensuring data security, and creating a solid foundation for national data sharing, he added.
Currently, the Da Nang C Hospital is deploying EMR software with requirements for entering records, managing inpatient and outpatient medical examination and treatment records, hospital fee payment, diagnostic imaging, statistics, and reporting.
The implementation of EMRs brings practical benefits in various aspects.
Specifically, for patients, the EMR system simplifies administrative processes, eliminates the need to carry paper records, and reduces risks of errors in prescriptions or test requests thanks to accurate, synchronized data.
In addition, the lifelong storage of medical records facilitates patients to conveniently track their treatment history via the application or website.
With regard to medical staff, the EMR system enables quick access to a patient’s entire medical history, thereby providing more accurate treatment regimens.
It also supports interdisciplinary coordination, and enhances the effectiveness of consultation and treatment activities. At the same time, the system creates a data source for scientific research, epidemiological analysis, and treatment quality assessment.
EMRs are the premise for building a modern, transparent, people-centered healthcare system.
