DNO - The Da Nang Oncology Hospital, on Tuesday, received a delegation of experts from the International Gynecologic Radiation Oncology Consortium (IGRO).
Within the framework of the working programme, IGRO experts conducted a field survey of radiation therapy operations at the Da Nang Oncology Hospital. The survey aimed to help visitors develop a training and consulting programme for the hospital's doctors, physicists, and technicians.
This working visit provided an important opportunity for the hospital's medical team to enhance their expertise, and access advanced treatment methods, thereby contributing to improving the quality of gynecological cancer treatment for patients in Central Vietnam and across the country.
IGRO is an international consortium established with the goal of enhancing the capacity of training and treating gynecological cancers with radiotherapy in low- and middle-income countries.
The Da Nang Oncology Hospital is one of the training centers selected by IGRO to implement the programme from 2025.
Radiotherapy is one of the strengths of the Da Nang Oncology Hospital. With two accelerators and a high-dose rate brachytherapy machine, the hospital has deployed most of the current radiotherapy techniques, including 3D conformal radiotherapy, intensity-modulated radiotherapy, concurrent chemoradiotherapy, palliative radiotherapy, total spinal radiotherapy, and image-guided high-dose rate brachytherapy.
Radiotherapy treatment at the Da Nang Oncology Hospital is getting better in both quantity and quality as shown in the increasing number of patients every year not only in Da Nang but also in many other provinces and cities.
