DNO - Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang chaired a reception on Tuesday for Mr. Kim Gihyeon, Member of the National Assembly of South Korea and Chairman of the Special Committee on the APEC Summit 2025 during his visit to the city.
Secretary Quang expressed his pleasure to welcome the South Korean National Assembly delegation to the city. He congratulated South Korea on being selected as the host of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum in 2025. He also voiced his belief that the country will successfully organize the event, thereby making practical contributions to promoting sustainable and inclusive economic and trade cooperation in the region.
He informed that in 2017, Da Nang was the host city of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week, which was highly appreciated by leaders from participating countries. The success of APEC 2017 significantly spread the city’s image and enhanced its position and brand in the international arena.
At the same time, the city leader hoped that through the working session with the local departments and branches, the South Korean delegation could draw valuable lessons from the city’s experience during the organization of APEC 2017.
On the occasion, Mr. Quang informed updates about the merger between Da Nang city and Quang Nam Province as well as introduced several highlights of the new city.
Notably, the National Assembly of Viet Nam has recently issued many special mechanisms and policies for Da Nang, including the establishment of a Free Trade Zone and an International Financial Center.
With these new potential and advantages, Secretary Quang hoped that South Korean localities and partners will continue to expand investment in Da Nang in the fields of high technology, tourism, Free Trade Zone, and International Financial Center in the coming time.
He also voiced his hope to welcome many delegations from South Korean localities, businesses, and organizations at the Viet Nam - South Korea Festival 2025 slated to be held in the city in early August.
In reply, Mr. Kim Gihyeon expressed his delight at the good development of the bilateral relationships between South Korea and Viet Nam. Notably, the central city is a favorite destination for South Korean tourists.
Mr. Kim Gihyeon said that he was impressed by Da Nang’s great potential and its rapid and modern development. He also took the opportunity to thank the city for sharing its experiences in organizing APEC 2017.
At the same time, he hoped that Da Nang and South Korean localities and enterprises will expand cooperation in various fields, promote economic growth and deepen the South Korea - Viet Nam relationships in the near future.
