Da Nang offers significant cooperation opportunities for Thai investors

DNO - On the afternoon of August 10, the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organisations and the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association in Da Nang, in coordination with the Consulate General of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City and relevant agencies, held an international seminar on Da Nang’s role in promoting Vietnam - Thailand cooperation in tourism, trade and investment.

Present at the event were Consul General of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City Wiraka Moodhitaporn, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, and more than 300 speakers, experts, and businesses from Vietnam and Thailand.

The seminar featured four sessions and 10 presentations by managers, experts, and businesses from both countries, focusing on tourism opportunities, air connectivity and transport infrastructure, trade and investment cooperation, and policies and incentives for attracting FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) to Da Nang’s priority sectors.

Participants also exchanged new initiatives, shared experience, identified cooperation opportunities, and proposed practical solutions to promote tourism, trade and investment connectivity between Da Nang, Central Vietnam, Central Highlands, and Thai localities.

Addressing the seminar, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi said Da Nang is pursuing strategic breakthroughs, including the development of an International Financial Centre and a Free Trade Zone. These initiatives offer new opportunities for cooperation with Thai businesses in retail, high-quality manufacturing, smart logistics, the digital economy, clean energy and high-end tourism.

The seminar also provided a platform for agencies and businesses from both countries to discuss solutions for promoting tourism, improving transport connectivity, and expanding trade and investment.

Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi urged relevant agencies to consider expert recommendations, assess market demand and air and logistics connectivity, and incorporate business proposals. She called for timely policy recommendations to deepen comprehensive cooperation between Da Nang and Thai localities and partners.

Chairman of the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organisations Nguyen Ngoc Binh affirmed that, for many years, people-to-people diplomacy has been a mission consistently pursued by the Union to strengthen friendship and solidarity, promote mutual understanding and foster cooperation between Da Nang's people and people around the world, including Thailand, one of Vietnam's most important partners in ASEAN.

The seminar is expected to pave the way for more specific cooperation programmes, new connectivity projects and new friendship ties among localities, agencies, businesses and people's organisations of the two countries.
