DNO - Da Nang is focusing on improving the quality of public healthcare, train human resources, and bolster disease prevention and control capabilities in the border areas between the city and Lao localities.
Under Plan No. 512/KH-UBND, which aims to strengthen friendly and cooperative relations between Da Nang and Lao localities for the 2026 - 2030 period, healthcare cooperation stands out as a key priority.
Da Nang will establish mechanisms and policies to receive, examine, and treat local people from the border areas of Sekong Province (Laos) at Da Nang’s border medical facilities. Alongside, the city organizes health check-ups, medical treatment, and medication distribution for Sekong Province’s officials.
The city's health sector continues to ramp up its humanitarian medical programs, including free consultations and medication distribution, as well as eye surgeries, for residents in the disadvantaged villages of Sekong Province, while gradually expanding its medical support activities to other localities in southern and central Laos.
In addition, the city is prioritizing professional training for Sekong Province's medical staff, preparing for the operation of the Da Nang-Sekong Friendship Hospital funded by Da Nang.
The medical facilities under the Da Nang Department of Health have also been tasked with enhancing training and transferring medical techniques, thereby helping to improve medical examination and treatment capacity for Lao localities.
Regarding preventive healthcare, Da Nang is strengthening coordination with provinces in southern and central Laos to share information on infectious diseases and unusual public health events, as well as to implement cross-border disease prevention and control measures.
These cooperative activities contribute to enhancing healthcare system capacity and protecting public health while reinforcing the special friendship between Da Nang and Lao localities.
