At the Da Nang Innovation Startup Festival (SURF) 2026 taking place last month, international venture capital firms believed an innovative startup looking forward to achieving its breakthrough should develop a product capable of competing and expanding into the global market.
Reality shows that "Go Global" is emerging as a strategic direction for several technology enterprises in Da Nang seeking to transcend the limits of the local market.
The city recently hosted a diverse range of international events across various sectors, thereby contributing to expanding connectivity networks and paving the way for international partnerships in technology and innovative startups.
Alongside promoting outward investment, the city actively fosters connections between domestic and international businesses locally. This creates a bridge that enables local enterprises to access advanced technologies, attract venture capital, and collaborate with leading overseas technology experts and companies.
For example, the Republic of Korea's Daegu Technology and Innovation Showcase Space, which recently launched in Da Nang, formed a meeting place for connecting Da Nang and Daegu enterprises in technology, ideas, and business opportunities.
Furthermore, businesses from both sides can exchange information while introducing their products. This aims to facilitate technology transfer and foster collaborative programmes in sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, smart cities, and green technology.
Da Nang is striving to become a global city by enhancing the city's governance quality, improving its investment environment, fostering innovation, and proactively integrating into the global flows of knowledge, technology, and finance.

At the recent high-level policy dialogue during the Da Nang Business, Finance, and Technology Week 2026, several experts and policymakers confirmed that the scope for growth, which is historically driven by low-cost labour, resource exploitation, investment expansion, and input-based incentives, is gradually narrowing.
Meanwhile, the world is undergoing rapid transformation driven by AI, automation, the digital and green economies, supply chain shifts, strategic competition, climate change, and ageing populations.
According to experts, now is a pivotal period for Vietnam in general and Da Nang in particular to renew their development models and ascend to a new level.
Da Nang’s ambition to become a global city serves as a driving force for the city in proactively adopting innovative international development models while laying a "launching pad" for making breakthroughs amidst rapid technological and environmental changes.
Da Nang boasts its great appeal for the international professional community thanks to the favorable living environment and natural landscapes.
However, these are merely initial draws. To successfully implement new development models, including an international financial center, a free trade zone, and a semiconductor industry hub, Da Nang must attract and hold a highly skilled workforce.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, emphasized that building Da Nang into a city worth living in, worth visiting, worth investing in, and worth dedicating oneself to not only serves the city’s residents but also contributes to enhancing national competitiveness amid fierce global competition for high-quality human resources.
