A destination for global innovation startup capital

Da Nang's innovation and startup ecosystem has made remarkable progress in recent years.

In 2024 alone, the city entered the world’s top 1,000 startup ecosystems for the first time. In 2026, it climbs to 554th place globally, an increase of 342 positions in just two years.

Currently, Da Nang is emerging as a dynamic locality distinguished by its innovative mindset and strong commitment to developing a thriving startup ecosystem.

Beyond supporting startups, Da Nang is gradually establishing its presence in new-growth sectors such as fintech, AI, Web3, technology sandboxes and the International Financial Centre.

Amidst the global shift in capital and technology flows, Da Nang is expected to become a strategic gateway connecting innovation capital in ASEAN and Asia, while gradually shaping a regional innovation ecosystem.

Da Nang possesses many unique competitive advantages. Not only is it one of Vietnam’s leading tourism destinations, Da Nang also has necessary conditions to become the innovation hub in Central Vietnam.

Models, such as global crowdfunding platforms through the Vietnam International Finance Centre in Da Nang, and national and local venture capital funds connecting with global investment flows, are expected to strengthen the city's position as a destination for global innovation capital.

Numerous incentives for investors and businesses

In addition to developing strategic technology sectors, Da Nang is working to create a more favorable investment environment for the startups, tech enterprises and international investors through improvements in the investment environment, administrative reforms, and enhanced transparency.

According to Ms. Le Thi Thuc, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Science and Technology, the city has developed startup support policies with funding of up to VND 1 billion per project.

Policies on supporting intellectual property development and tax exemptions continue to be implemented under Government Decree No. 246, helping businesses access greater financial resources.

These incentives are expected to attract more domestic and international investors to the startup and innovation sectors.

According to Mr. Pham Hong Quat, Director of the National Academy for Advanced Technology and Innovation (NACENTECH), to realize Vietnam’s national strategy on startups and innovation, the Ministry of Science and Technology will focus on several key priorities, with Da Nang identified as a core location for implementing preferential policies and support mechanisms for startup enterprises.

Innovation and the digital economy are increasingly becoming key drivers of Da Nang’s growth.

In the future, the city aims to build its development model on knowledge, technology and global connectivity rather than relying on traditional growth engines.
