DNO - Da Nang is gradually becoming a promising destination for biotechnology in the region, said municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang during his meeting on Wednesday with CT Group.
The city Party chief Quang proudly informed that the city has made significant progress in building infrastructure, attracting talents, and promoting research and application of biotechnology.
In particular, the Biotechnology Center under the municipal Department of Science and Technology has been established in Da Nang, the only one of its kind in the country. Also, the city plays a vital role in connecting the regional biotechnology value chains.
Da Nang will continue to invest in facilities, especially laboratories and modern equipment, in a bid to serve the research of new biotechnologies, he added.
Secretary Quang also emphasized that the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the city and CT Group during the Da Nang Innovation Startup Festival (SURF) 2025 marked the close cooperation between the state and enterprises, creating a solid foundation for strong development of startups in the future.
To ensure smooth and timely coordination with CT Group, the city leader asked the Department of Science and Technology to work closely with relevant units to promptly propose locations for the implementation of technology projects.
He also urged the development of an International Financial Center in Da Nang to form a commodity trading floor. The Department of Science and Technology was tasked with ensuring safe transactions and related legal factors.
Established in 2006, CT Group is one of the leading technology and innovation groups in Vietnam with 68 subsidiaries in 12 countries.
Under the deal, Da Nang and CT Group will work together for sustainable and comprehensive development through breakthrough initiatives and application of advanced technology. Included are multi-layer digitalization technology on the ground and near-edge space (Digital Twin 15), pilot operation of a carbon credit trading market in Da Nang, cooperation in biotechnology (ginseng, medicinal herbs and rare genetic resources), and semiconductor industry.
