Da Nang citizens send food and essentials to flood-hit communities

DNO - Da Nang residents are joining hands to provide food, warm clothes and other necessities for people affected by natural disasters in the provinces of Dak Lak, Gia Lai and Khanh Hoa.

Over the past two days, many organizations and volunteer groups citywide have urgently called on the community to donate food, essential goods and warm clothes to support those hit by severe flooding in Dak Lak, Gia Lai, and Khanh Hoa.

Many collection points have been set up across the city such as 70 Ha Bong in An Hai Ward, 232 Khuc Hao in Son Tra Ward, 90 Tran Quoc Toan and 68 Phan Dang Luu in Hai Chau Ward, 149 Quach Thi Trang in Hoa Xuan Ward, 38/3 Nguyen Duc Trung in Thanh Khe Ward, and land lot No.13 on Nguyen Sinh Sac in Hoa Khanh Ward.

Each gift included bread, drinks, milk, canned food and others.

On Saturday afternoon, at 70 Ha Bong Street in An Hai Ward, volunteers were busy sorting and packing large quantities of donated goods for transport. Gifts of milk, snacks, sausages, canned food, dried provisions, and instant noodles were carefully boxed to be sent to the hardest-hit areas of the former Phu Yen, now part of Dak Lak Province.

Ms. Bui Huong, a member of a volunteer group, said that the donations were collected by her and some friends. They called on others to join the effort, personally packaging goods and coordinating with relief transport teams.

At noon on November 22, 30 boxes of bottled water and 100 gifts had been loaded onto trucks to be transported to Dak Lak. Volunteers at 70 Ha Bong continued to pack nearly 200 additional gifts and 1 ton of rice to ensure they could be delivered to flood-stricken communities in the evening of the same day.

With ongoing contributions, an estimated 400 - 500 gifts, along with blankets and warm clothing, are expected to reach affected households.

According to Ms. Huong, although Da Nang itself has just suffered from natural disasters, local residents are always ready to join hands to assist those in need in Dak Lak, Gia Lai, and Khanh Hoa.
