DNO - A delegation from the Australian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, led by Consul General Sarah Hooper, paid a courtesy visit to Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ho Ky Minh on Monday.
Australian Consul General Sarah Hooper expressed her impression of Da Nang’s rapid growth. She also congratulated the city on being selected as the site for a Free Trade Zone and International Financial Center.
She hoped that in the coming time, the two sides will boost deeper cooperation in areas of mutual strength such as education and training, especially joint training programmes, student exchanges, credit transfer programmes, and research between Vietnamese and Australian higher education institutions.
Ms. Hooper suggested that Da Nang consider launching a direct air route to Australia, while continuing its active participation in programmes and projects funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), and United Nations agencies, especially in promoting gender equality and sustainable development, and implementing projects to eliminate violence against women and children.
In reply, Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh expressed his delight at the good development of the relationship between Viet Nam and Australia in recent times, especially after the upgrade of their bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in March 2024.
He also voiced his hope that the Australian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City will continue to introduce more potential Australian investors and partners to explore cooperation, investment and business opportunities in the city's key projects such as the Free Trade Zone and the International Financial Center.
Importance should be attached to strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest such as education and training, high technology, innovation, tourism, logistics and smart city building, the city leader added.
