DNO - Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ho Quang Buu held a reception on Wednesday for Ms. Naomi Cook, Acting Deputy Ambassador of Australia to Viet Nam, during her working visit to Da Nang.
Vice Chairman Ho Quang Buu spoke highly of the active contributions made by the Australian Embassy in Viet Nam to promoting cooperation between the two countries in general as well as between Australia and Vietnamese localities, including Da Nang, in particular.
Da Nang currently maintains cooperative ties with a number of Australian localities and partners, including Queensland, South Australia and the City of Gold Coast, in various areas.
Among these aspects, education and human resource development have been identified by the city as areas with significant potential for cooperation.
This is particularly relevant as Da Nang is gradually building a highly internationally integrated education environment, with a focus on improving foreign-language proficiency among students and teachers, in tandem with preparing to pilot the teaching of several subjects in English from the 2027 - 2028 academic year.
Vice Chairman Ho Quang Buu expressed his hope that the Australian Embassy in Viet Nam would continue to help connect Australian educational institutions, universities, research institutes and education organizations with Da Nang, thereby improving the quality of English teaching and learning as well as developing high-quality human resources.
In reply, Ms. Naomi Cook thanked the city leaders for the warm welcome.
She also highly appreciated Da Nang's support in organizing the Vietnam - Australia Forum this morning at the Academy of Politics Region III.
According to Ms. Naomi Cook, Viet Nam and Australia established diplomatic relations in 1973.
The strong level of trust in the bilateral relationship was further demonstrated by the visit to Australia by General Secretary and President To Lam last August.
Australia is currently actively partnering with and supporting Viet Nam through strategic cooperation programs, including human resource training aimed at realizing Viet Nam's development vision toward 2045.
These efforts contribute to strengthening capacity and promoting experience-sharing between the two countries.
