Canadian navy ship pays friendship visit to Da Nang

DNO - The Canadian naval ship HMCS Charlottetown arrived at Tien Sa Port at noon on May 15, beginning a four-day friendship visit to Da Nang City.

The delegation pays a courtesy visit to Da Nang officers and officials.

The delegation is led by Vice Admiral Angus Topshee, the head of the Royal Canadian Navy, along with 257 officers and sailors.

A welcoming ceremony was held at Tien Sa Port with the participation of representatives from the Da Nang Department of Foreign Affairs, Naval Region 3 Command, the municipal Military Command, the city Border Guard Command, and related agencies.

During the visit from May 15 to 18, the ship’s command officers are scheduled to pay courtesy calls on leaders of the Da Nang People’s Committee and the Military Region 5 Command.

The delegation will also participate in sports exchanges with officers and soldiers of Naval Region 3, engage in cultural exchanges at The University of Danang - University of Economics and the city’s Centre for Agent Orange Victims and Disadvantaged Children, and join professional discussions on maritime trade and security.

Additional activities include joint military exercises at sea and cultural and tourism visits around the city.

The Canadian naval delegation visit contributes to strengthening friendship and mutual trust in line with efforts to promote the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Canada.
