According to statements from both parties, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed under which VietJet will purchase 100 additional A321neo aircraft, with an option to order up to 50 more in the future.

The total potential order of 150 A321neo plans is estimated to be worth around $9.4 billion based on list prices provided by Cirium Ascend.

Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Chairwoman of VietJet, noted that these modern, fuel-efficient aircraft have played a pivotal role in the airline’s growth. Her remarks were made during a press conference attended by a delegation including several Western banks.

This landmark agreement marks a significant step in VietJet’s strategy to evolve into a multinational aviation group.

Deliveries are expected to begin in 2030, and VietJet has confirmed that financing for the deal has already been secured.

European aircraft manufacturer Airbus has announced a string of major deals at the Paris Air Show, the world’s largest aviation trade event, which opened on June 16.

VietJet currently operates flights to Australia, India, and Kazakhstan using wide-body A330 aircraft.

VietJet, Vietnam’s largest private airline, operates flights to Australia, India, and Kazakhstan using Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft. Its fleet is almost entirely Airbus, except for two Chinese-made regional jets.

Airbus is the dominant supplier in Vietnam, accounting for around 86% of the country’s commercial fleet. Still, as an export-reliant economy, Vietnam faces ongoing pressure from the U.S. to increase imports of American goods.

The latest Airbus deal follows VietJet’s recent order of 20 A330neo wide-body jets.
