DNO - Besides famous beaches, many visitors to Da Nang tend to head into the mountains to return to pristine nature and enjoy cooler temperatures.
The journey to nature can begin along a peaceful route to Le Pass in Que Son Commune, about 50km west of downtown Da Nang.
Once considered a remote and intimidating mountain pass with sharp bends and steep cliffs, the Le Pass has long possessed a unique charm.
As visitors climb higher toward the summit, the scorching summer heat gradually gives way to refreshing mountain air, giving visitors the feeling of entering another world, far removed from the sweltering lowlands.
Located near the Le Pass, Suoi Mat (Cool Stream) is not a grand scenic spot or a sophisticated check-in destination. Instead, it captivates visitors with its cool atmosphere, simplicity and unspoiled natural beauty.
Beneath the canopy of ancient trees, the air here is cool and refreshing, as if filtered by the surrounding mountains and forests.
Even during the hottest summer afternoons, temperatures here are typically 4 - 5 degrees Celsius lower than in nearby areas.
In recent years, the site has undergone modest improvements, including reinforced walkways and a more organized reception area. However, development has been carefully kept to a minimum so that nature remains the main attraction.
Natural bathing pools fed directly by the stream have been thoughtfully designed to preserve the character of the mountain creek as well as ensure the safety of visitors.
Ms. Nguyen Lan Anh, a native of former Quang Nam Province who has recently returned from Ho Chi Minh City with her family, shared during this trip to Da Nang, her family spent a day at Suoi Mat to enjoy the refreshing natural surroundings.
“It was a wonderful opportunity for the whole family to relax, spend time together and enjoy local specialties, including grilled chicken with green chili salt, salt-braised chicken, wild vegetables, indigenous lotus greens and traditional regional dishes” she added.
Simply sitting beside the stream and watching the waterfall are enough to make us feel completely refreshed.

Another attractive escape from the summer heat can be found at the Khe Lim Ecotourism Area in Ha Nha Commune, approximately 50km from downtown Da Nang.
The site is a complex of waterfalls, streams, and rocky creeks surrounded by untouched wilderness.
Nestled amidst the primeval forest, Khe Lim resembles a traditional ink-wash painting. Water cascades from the high mountains over multiple rocky tiers, creating a series of brilliant white waterfalls.
Many visitors choose to camp beside the stream, enjoy outdoor meals or simply relax and cool off in the water.
Despite its popularity, Khe Lim retains its pristine beauty and has not been overwhelmed by mass tourism.
Most visitors come in family groups or organized tours. They are advised to follow safety regulations issued by the site management and pay special attention to children.

Elsewhere, Hai Van Gate has been revitalized following its restoration, bringing renewed appeal to the entire Hai Van Pass.
Today, the pass has become an immersive destination where visitors pause to admire the scenery and experience one of its most popular activities: cloud hunting.
To witness the famous sea of clouds, visitors often set out around 6:00 am. Standing atop the pass, they can feel cool mountain breezes sweeping through the restored stone walls as clouds roll in from the sea.
Both domestic and international visitors have expressed delight at the opportunity to experience this spectacular natural phenomenon.
Besides Hai Van Gate, several new check-in spots have emerged along Hai Van Pass, including Sheep Hill and Hai Van Green.
In the morning, when the clouds dissipate and the sun shines on the mountainside, the entire landscape brightens.
As night falls, visitors can gather beside simple tents and glowing campfires to immerse themselves in the peaceful atmosphere of the mountains, embracing the tranquility and beauty of nature.
