As Vietnam accelerates efforts to achieve its development goals for 2030, strengthening industrial capacity, expanding domestic enterprises and deepening participation in global supply chains have become increasingly important to its growth strategy.

Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW underscored the need to lay the foundations for a new development model suited to a country with modern industry and upper-middle-income aspirations.

Key priorities include institutional reform, modern national governance, science and technology, innovation, strategic infrastructure, knowledge capacity, high-quality human resources and leading enterprises.

Addressing the 2026 Bac Ninh Industrial Forum, themed “Building a Global High-Tech Supply Chain Hub”, on November 4, Mr. Hoang Quang Phong, Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), highlighted the country’s favorable business environment and sustained development.

Vietnam’s extensive international economic integration is another major advantage. Its participation in 18 next-generation free trade agreements has helped expand market access and contributed to an economic openness ratio of nearly 200%, creating favorable conditions for businesses to connect with global partners and supply networks.

Vietnam’s improving competitiveness is also strengthening its appeal to international investors. The country ranked 27th among 70 economies in a global competitiveness assessment, while investment from major multinational corporations continues to grow.

These developments reflect confidence in Vietnam’s economic prospects and its potential as a manufacturing and investment destination.

Vietnam is increasingly benefiting from the global shift towards advanced technology manufacturing.

Alongside Malaysia and Thailand, it is among three countries recording strong export growth driven by rising demand for manufactured products and electronics-related services associated with artificial intelligence (AI).

This momentum offers opportunities for Vietnam to move beyond conventional manufacturing and strengthen its presence in higher-value segments of global production.

Deeper links between domestic businesses and international manufacturers could also help local enterprises improve technological capabilities, productivity and competitiveness.

Bac Ninh is playing an important role in this transformation. The province is among Vietnam’s top 10 destinations for foreign investment, with total registered capital of approximately US$52.5 billion.

Foreign investment nationwide is concentrated largely in processing and manufacturing, sectors that depend on strong connections and close cooperation among businesses across production chains. Developing these linkages will be essential to enabling Vietnamese enterprises to participate more deeply in global value chains.

By combining its open economy, investment-friendly environment, expanding industrial base and commitment to innovation, Vietnam is steadily building the foundations for a more advanced and resilient manufacturing sector.

As global supply chains continue to evolve, Vietnam is positioning itself not only as a competitive production destination but also as an increasingly important partner in high-tech manufacturing and the future of global industry.
