DNO - A new “Heritage Road” in Central Vietnam is shaping up as one of the country’s most distinctive tourism offerings, connecting the ancient town of Hoi An, the sacred My Son Sanctuary and the natural gateway of Dong Giang, all in Da Nang.
Launched in early 2025, the route is envisioned as a seamless journey through culture, history, and nature.
Hoi An, with its riverside charm and centuries-old architecture, represents Vietnam’s trading past and urban heritage.
My Son, nestled in a spiritual valley, carries the legacy of the ancient Champa Kingdom with its temples and artistry.
Dong Giang, on the edge of the Truong Son mountain range, opens into pristine forests where the traditions of the Co Tu people thrive.
Together, these three destinations form a narrative that takes travelers from lowland to highland, from past to present.
Momentum is building at the starting point of the route. FVG Group has broken ground on the Fivires Nam Hoi An Resort and the Fivitel Nam Hoi An Hotel worth around VND 750 billion ($29 million).
Located along the Thu Bon River, these facilities are designed as a hub linking road, river and eventually rail transport.
The site will also serve as the departure point for dedicated buses and river cruises, giving travelers flexible access to the heritage trail.
Looking ahead, FVG plans to enrich the experience with night markets, river cruises, and cultural shows such as “Champa Dance” at My Son and “Dance of the Highlands” in Dong Giang. Officials emphasize the importance of sustainable growth, community engagement and integrated infrastructure to elevate the route’s profile.
Tour operators see strong potential for thematic tours. According to Vietravel emphasis a need to work together to design joint tourism products that highlight the rare blend of culture and nature along the Heritage Road.
One proposed itinerary is “A Fairytale Night in Hoi An - A Mystic Dawn in My Son - A Co Tu Cultural Festival in Dong Giang,” with each stop offering interactive experiences that reflect the unique character of the destination.
With cohesive storytelling, the Heritage Road could emerge as a signature brand for Central Vietnam’s tourism.
