DNO - The Vietnam - Japan Festival, held annually in Da Nang city since 2014, celebrates not only cultural exchange but also cooperation in economy, education, tourism, science, and people-to-people ties.

Marking its 10th anniversary in 2025, this year’s event was the largest ever, featuring over 100 exhibition booths, 200 Japanese delegates, and 100 Japanese businesses.

Cultural, artistic, and sports programs created a vibrant atmosphere, strengthening the spirit of friendship between the Vietnamese and Japanese communities. For Japanese residents in Da Nang, like Mr. Shota Sato, the festival brought the comforting feeling of “returning home.”

Key highlights included the conference on promoting the comprehensive strategic partnership and the seminar on promoting Japanese tourism in 2025.

At the event, Ito Naoki, Japan's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam, believed in the deepening ties and expressed Japan's growing interest in cooperating with Da Nang.

The resumption of the direct Osaka - Da Nang flight and nearly 300 Japanese investment projects worth over $1.2 billion highlight strong bilateral engagement.

Da Nang’s upcoming Free Trade Zone is expected to further boost economic ties. Ambassador Ito expressed hope for the continued development of a unified Da Nang and Quang Nam, calling it a vision of a “Wonderful Da Nang”.

Vietnam and Japan established diplomatic relations in 1973. Over 50 years, cultural similarities and mutual goodwill have fostered strong connections. Da Nang has built cooperative relationships with over 20 Japanese cities, including official ties with Kawasaki, Sakai, Yokohama, and Kisarazu.

The Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association in Da Nang plays a vital role in organising cultural, educational, and business exchanges.

As Da Nang and Quang Nam integrate, especially with Hoi An’s 400-year historical trade links with Japan, the festival promises to grow, deepening mutual understanding and friendship between the two nations.
