Vietnam and Singapore become champions of VIMC 2025 in Da Nang

DNO - Vietnam and Singapore jointly won the overall first prize at the 25th International Mathematics Competition held in Da Nang, Vietnam, known as VIMC 2025, from August 15 - 18.

The Vietnamese team delivered an outstanding performance, winning 18 individual medals: 6 gold, 4 silver and 8 bronze.

The closing ceremony of VIMC 2025 was held on August 18, in a formal yet warm atmosphere, co-organized by the Da Nang Department of Education and Training, the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU) under the University of Da Nang, and IEG Global.

More than 500 students from 29 countries and territories, along with the host nation Vietnam, participated in this year’s competition.

Attending the closing ceremony were leaders of Da Nang city, including Standing Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh and Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Tran Anh Tuan, who praised the competition for fostering fairness, integrity, creativity and international friendship.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman Tuan emphasized that VIMC 2025 was not only a test of intellectual ability but also an opportunity for students to experience diverse cultures, forge friendships, and build unforgettable memories in Da Nang, a city known for its hospitality.

“I believe that each participant will bring home not only the results of a competition but also enduring bonds of international friendships and unforgettable experiences in this land of hospitality and warmth, and the inspiration to continue their pursuit of knowledge,” he said.

According to Mr. Mai Quang Huy, representative of the VIMC 2025 Jury Board, this year’s exam was broader and more challenging than in previous editions, covering diverse fields of mathematics. What impressed the juries most, he noted, was not only the accuracy of solutions but also the originality and creativity in the approaches.

VIMC 2025 reaffirmed Da Nang’s position as a hub for international educational and cultural events, leaving participants and visitors with a lasting impression of both intellectual excellence and heartfelt friendship.

The closing ceremony also marked the handover of the hosting flag for IMC 2026 to Mongolia, reaffirming the rotation system and the enduring vitality of the competition, which connects young mathematicians worldwide.
