Industry has been identified as a key pillar of the new city’s economy. The Da Nang Industrial Production Index (IIP) in the first eight months of 2025 is estimated to have increased by 12% year-on-year.

All four industrial sectors recorded positive growth: mining surged 46.8%; processing and manufacturing rose 11.7%; electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply grew 15.8%; while water supply and waste management increased 9%.

Da Nang is home to a number of “leading enterprises” that drive its industrial growth, including units of THACO Group (Chu Lai - Truong Hai truck and bus manufacturing plants), Hoa Tho Textile and Garment Corporation, the Da Nang Rubber Joint Stock Company, Danapha Pharmaceutical JSC, and March 29 Textile JSC.

Their operations not only contribute to strengthening Vietnam’s industrial capacity but also bring Vietnamese brands to the global stage, enhancing both the nation’s and the city’s international profile.

The merger has also created vast room for industrial expansion: 36 industrial parks and 126 industrial clusters have been planned, alongside Da Nang’s existing Hi-Tech Park.

City authorities are accelerating land clearance, infrastructure development, and policy harmonization to attract new investment.

A focus on green, eco-industrial models and advanced technologies reflects Da Nang’s strategy to combine growth with sustainability.

High-tech industries remain at the heart of the city’s long-term vision, aligned with Vietnam’s national strategies. By fostering linkages between industrial parks, the Hi-Tech Park, and information technology zones, Da Nang aims to build competitive value chains and enhance its role in the regional economy.

The city’s Department of Industry and Trade has set ambitious targets for the sector: by 2030, industry is expected to account for 21% of Da Nang’s GRDP, with manufacturing alone contributing 16%.

Average industrial growth for the 2026 - 2030 period is projected at 11%, matching the pace of the manufacturing sector. By 2030, half of the city’s industrial clusters are expected to be equipped with standardized centralized wastewater treatment systems.

Da Nang is positioning itself not just as a tourist destination but as a dynamic industrial powerhouse, contributing to Vietnam’s competitiveness in global supply chains.
